Essential Functions:

  • Utilizes and maintains dispatch software; experience with Crown Express preferred.
  • Arranges pick up and delivery appointments with shippers / receivers.
  • Tracks shipments and provide status updates to clients while updating in system.
  • Assigns Daily routes and trips for local Austin pick up and deliveries
  • Communicates effectively with drivers and customers in fast-paced environment
  • Schedules and dispatches drivers to appropriate vehicles to ensure daily coverage of all trips
  • Assists drivers with routing directions and communicate special service requirements
  • Confers with customers or supervising personnel in order to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment.
  • Supervises the performance of existing drivers and leads in training of existing/new drivers to fill any gaps in departmental objectives being achieved.
  • Reports driver performance metrics daily and focus on continuous improvement
  • Determines types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required according to work orders or specifications.
  • Seeks supplier cost confirmation and approval.


Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of experience with or as a broker.  Alternatively, similar experience working with or as a freight forwarder is acceptable. local cartage operations and/or inventory control experience. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant industry certification is preferred, but not required. Deep understanding of customer service, order entry, and a keen eye for details. Previous DOT or compliance is a plus but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Proven ability to identify areas of opportunity within the macro process. Proven ability to supervise, delegate and distribute tasks in an environment with rapid change. This will be technology-centric (iPhone, Microsoft, google) will need to be able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication as both the communicator and the receiver. Ideally will have a high ability to remain calm and methodical during very high paced and stressful operations.
