Business Development Manager

Summary:      

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for growing our pipeline through the proactive and innovative account development. Will be responsible for managing assigned territory, developing the sales team, creating marketing strategies and tactics, tracking prospective activities and creating/analyzing metrics that drive overall growth and sales results.

Essential Functions:

  • Represents Intelligent Logistics and Mainfreight services in the development of sales strategies to achieve annual sales targets.  
  • Develops new "sandbox" clients (those spending at least $100k+ annually.)
  • Interacts with operations staff to ensure that customer needs are understood and supported. 
  • Manages relationships with existing customers to optimize revenue and margins and to continuously grow new business opportunities.
  • Manages proposal process for specific clients/sponsors including budget and pricing development, proposal writing, contract negotiations and client presentations.
  • Formulates business development forecasts, plans, and activities to increase company presence in defined markets and achieve annual sales target objectives
  • Communicates back to internal groups the outcome of the negotiations/proposals focusing on conveying the expectations set forth for each group, i.e. clear details, critical timeframes and expectations.
  • Attends required networking and industry development functions.  Travel as needed for specific customer requirements or meetings/conferences.  Entertainment of customers and prospects as appropriate.

 

Other Responsibilities:

Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Some travel may be required. 

 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent education and experience, plus moderate experience (3-5 years) of logistics industry sales success. Employee must provide dependable transportation for outside sales, suitable for customer comfort. Experience with SalesForce Contract Management is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and email.  Capable of working both individually and as a part of a very dynamic team of professionals. Above average leadership, attention to detail, and organizational, interpersonal, and team-oriented skills.  Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines required.
